Roof Maintenance

Roof Maintenance Recommendations

Good roofing maintenance practice suggests a roof inspection each spring and fall.

  1. Check for signs of interior water damage or staining in your attic and interior walls and ceilings.  If found, this will indicate roof areas that you will need to concentrate on.
  2. Check for loose or missing shingles.
    Replace or repair, if needed.
  3. Inspect roof vents for signs of aging, missing screens and or cracks.
    Replace or repair, if needed.
  4. Inspect flashing around chimneys, pipe penetrations and curbs (example: skylights).
    Replace or repair, if needed.
  5. Check and re-caulk flashing details and seams, if needed.
  6. Trim back any trees or shrubs that have begun to impinge on your roof.
  7. Clean gutters and downspouts.
